When Worlds Collide, Sunday Sept 14th, 4pm at the Little Fox RWC

Hi Friends,

Sunday, Sept. 14th is coming up soon - like this weekend already! So I am writing to you to remind you about our multi-band concert, "When Worlds Collide".

John Worley and Bari Bari plus Vandivier and also the Aaron Lington Quintet will be playing at the beautiful Little Fox in Redwood City. If you haven't been there yet, now is the time. It is an intimate venue, a restored gem in downtown RWC. You can savor a glass of something refreshing (This is a 21 and over event!) while sitting in the front row or up in the balcony - no assigned seats.

It is a perfect date on a Sunday because it starts at 4 PM and you are home early enough to start your week all refreshed.

This is a special concert Series called Sunday Jazz at the Little Fox created to showcase some of the finest acts anywhere who just happen to reside in our area.

Here is the scoop:

An interesting note from BeasWa co-producer Matt Beasley:
"This is a show you’ll be blown away by: John Worley and Bari Bari, Vandivier and the Aaron Lington Quintet. These instrumental groups are world class - simply amazing. What you will hear is premiere talent, awe-inspiring prowess, and lush chordal beauty."
"John Worley and Bari Bari consists of John Worley - flugelhorn/trumpet, baritone saxophonists Aaron Lington, Fil Lorenz and Kristen Strom and is backed by John’s great rhythm section including Murray Low on keys, Tom Bockhold on bass and Paul Van Wageningen on drums. This group pays homage to the hard bop East Coast player Pepper Adams and the West Coast Cool School player Gerry Mulligan. These two gentlemen are probably the most influential saxophonists of the current generation of the Bari Sax players. The musicians in Bari Bari are highly sought-after players and jazz educators in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. This is a culmination of phenomenal talent that is sure to inspire and delight the listener."
" Vandivier - Rick Vandivier is an extraordinary master of guitar. He plays with passion, fire, and a sense of humor. Over the years, Vandivier has evolved a wide ranging style that extends from pushing the limits of jazz guitar to applying his liquid style to the full spectrum of music from raw blues through bebop, Latin music and classical music all the way to the raging soul of Jimi Hendrix. Vandivier’s music is a spiritual experience! "
"The Aaron Lington Quintet - Aaron Lington is a Baritone Saxophonist, Composer, Arranger, and a Jazz Educator. Aaron is actually Dr. Lington and is currently assistant professor of Jazz Education at San Jose State University. He was recently recognized in the 55th Annual Downbeat Magazine Critic’s Poll as a "Rising Star" in the Baritone Saxophone Category. He has performed with several well-known artists including Maria Schneider, Bo Diddley, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, and the Temptations. Lington was also a member of the world-renowned and Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band. This is only a partial listing of his accolades and achievements. Don’t miss these superb musicians!"
Please tell your friends or bring them along! We'd love to see you there!!!

Best Wishes,

John Worley and all of the musicians of "When Worlds Collide"

P.S. The first 10 people to bring a copy of this blog to the concert will receive a free signed poster by John Worley entitled, "Jazz Iz".
